Obituary of Franklin Potts

Franklin J. Potts: 07/12/1936-12/19/2017, 81 years of age, of Somerdale.

Loving husband of 57 years to Josephine A. "JoAnn" (nee DeCecco); Beloved father of Patricia E. Potts, Frank Potts, Michelle L. (Jeff) Filipkowski, Dina J. (Jim) Pleis, and the late William M. Potts; Poppop to Andrew M. Filipkowski, Katrina "Trina" M. Filipkowski, Angelina R. Pleis, Julia A. Filipkowski, Nicholas J. Pleis, and Ryan A. Pleis. Brother of the late William J. (Elizabeth) Potts and the late Catherine (late James) Dougherty.

Frank graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1954. He enlisted and was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy for 4 years including 18 months in Guam, and aboard the U.S.S. Shangri-La. Frank continued to be a proud supporter of his country and his community. Upon his return home, he worked for 40 years at the USPS in Somerdale and Voorhees, and was a member of branch 908. He was a volunteer fire fighter for 55 years for Somerdale Fire Company #1, and then Somerdale Fire Department. After retiring from the USPS, he worked for the Somerdale Fire Marshal's Office as Deputy Fire Marshall for 31 years. For over 20 years, Frank helped Santa on the Christmas Eve fire truck visits. He was an Usher for Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for many years, and a devout member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, including those of the furry variety, and always made sure there was a full candy jar (or dog treats) for them. He was a lover of funny movies, baseball games, crabs, and sharing his lovable wit with all of those he encountered.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing and visitation Friday Evening 6-8PM and Saturday Morning 9-10AM at EUGENE J. ZALE FUNERAL HOME, INC. 712 N White Horse Pike, Stratford, NJ 08084. PH 856-783-5100. Funeral Mass at 10:30AM at Our lady of Guadalupe Parish - St Luke Church. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in Frank's memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish or the Somerdale Fire Department.
