William Paul "Bill" LaBarth, age 83, of Sweetwater, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in his home on July 1, 2021. Predeceased by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Charlotte M. LaBarth (nee Groff). Born February 19, 1938 in Garden Lake, New Jersey to Mary (nee McKelvey) and William LaBarth. Loving father and hero of Jeffrey LaBarth (Regina) and Kathleen Baker (Marshall). Devoted Pop-Pop to Sarah, Brittany, Zachary, and Jacob. Survived by his brothers John LaBarth, Michael & David Chambers, and brother-in-law Robert Groff (Sally). Proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Forty-year member of Operating Engineers Local 825. Past President of the Destroyer Leader Association for USS Mitscher DL-2. Past Commodore of the Sweetwater Yacht Club. Bill could often be found sitting on his deck with friends and neighbors, sipping good scotch, and enjoying a cigar. He was an avid boater and wood-worker. Bill was extremely instrumental in the lives of his four grandchildren and often could be spotted on the Schuylkill River and Lake Lenape for regattas. He was a proud patron of Merion Mercy Academy and Saint Augustine Preparatory School. "Truly one of a kind, the best father and grandfather anyone could ask for." Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, July 9th 9:30-11am at Saint Simon Stock Parish, 178 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ 08009. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or National MS Society.
