Richard "Dick" Cummins, age 88, died peacefully on January 1, 2022. Predeceased by his wife Regina "Jean" Cummins, sons Richard III and Michael, and sister Kathleen. Survived by daughter Mary, sons Daniel (Anne) and Neil (Vicki), and grandchildren Daniel, Michael, Christopher, and Lindsey. Also survived by brother William (Arleen) Cummins, sister MaryBeth (Michael) DellaPella, and many nieces and nephews. Dick was a graduate of The Hill School, Class of 1952, and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from The University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, Class of 1961. He went on to a successful career in the reinsurance industry, working as an executive on the business side for several companies. He was regarded by some of his peers at being one of the best in his position. Dick was also a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in Korea. Dick was an avid sports fan and die-hard Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers fan. He loved track and field and attended many Penn Relay events. He especially loved college basketball and the NCAA Tournament. He also played competitive and pick-up basketball, softball, and flag football to an age long after many others would have stopped playing. Dick also coached many Little League teams that his sons played on and even led some of them to championships. Dick loved spending time with family at the Jersey shore, and in particular, annual trips most of his life to Longport, NJ. Perhaps Dick's greatest pride was with his grandsons and granddaughter and their scholastic achievements and participation in sports. He was so proud of all of them and loved being around them. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial gathering on Saturday, February 12th 10-11am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish – St. Lawrence Church, 135 N White Horse Pike, Lindenwold, NJ 08021. Mass and military honors following. Burial will be held privately.
