Obituary of George Michael Krumenacker, Sr.

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

George Michael Krumenacker, Sr., age 84, son of Frank and Margaret Krumenacker, was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 19, 1937. He passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022 in Somerdale, NJ surrounded by his loving family.

George was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Margaret, his sisters Margaret (Cuby), Helen, and Dolores (Sis) and his brother Frank (Bo). He is survived by his cherished wife of sixty-five years, Rita, who as fate would have it, grew up across the street from him on Bodine Street in Philadelphia. George and Rita, with other neighborhood kids, played "kick the can" and "buck buck" before eventually falling in love and getting married in 1957.

George was fiercely passionate about making a better life for his family and so, in 1971, he moved his family from Philadelphia to a single home in Somerdale. At times working three jobs, he was determined to give his family more than he had as a child. George spent forty-one years working for Tartan Foods and, then, SYSCO as a warehouseman, driving a forklift. He was very proud of his home and the life he built, and all he had accomplished.

When George wasn't working, he enjoyed Sunday afternoon football, cheering on the Eagles. George was overjoyed to have finally seen the Eagles prevail in Superbowl LXII in 2018. George also enjoyed cheering on the Flyers, hoping one day they would bring home another Stanley Cup. Summer was George's favorite season. He loved spending the day on the beach, floating in his pool and hosting barbeques on his deck. He enjoyed family vacations at the Jersey Shore and travelling to Florida's Disney World.

In his retirement years, George and Rita enjoyed relaxing, travelling, watching television, eating at restaurants and going to the movies, always taking advantage of the afternoon discounts. He loved to spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anyone that knew him knew how he loved to tell stories of the old days growing up on Bodine Street. And as everyone knows, he wasn't above an embellishment or two.

George is also survived by four daughters and a son: Teresa (Mike), George Jr. (Eileen), Joyce, Debra (Ron), Krista (Tom); eight grandchildren: Michael, Ryan, Ashley, Amy, Nicholas, Thomas, Tyler, Anthony; and four great-grandchildren: Michael, Connor, Cameron, and Hailey. He is survived by many dear friends, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, March 21st 9:30-11:30am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish – St. Luke Church, 55 Warwick Rd, Stratford, NJ 08084. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30am. Burial following in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chews Landing.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Padre Pio Foundation, or your favorite veteran's organization.
