Carmen Colette Hawthorne, daughter of the late Carl Hawthorne and Clementine Marie Hawthorne (nee Jenkins) began her journey in life on August 10, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA. She was affectionately called "Carm" by the family. Carmen graduated from Sterling High School in New Jersey in 1978. Her participation in basketball, volleyball, and track and field offered a full scholarship to Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. At Immaculata she was the starting center on the prestigious "Mighty Mac's" women's basketball team. Carmen received a Bachelor of Science in psychology and maintained a 3.75 GPA. Carmen began her professional career in the IT industry. She excelled rapidly in IT with Cigna Corp. Her magnetic personality, hard work ethic, and competitive nature allowed her to receive numerous promotions and professional designations, including becoming a certified project manager with some of the largest computer corporations in the world. As a project manager Carmen was responsible for maintaining data centers for major corporations such as Comcast Communications, Johnson & Johnson, AmeriHealth, and Wells Fargo. Early in life Carmen accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. One of the things that brought her great joy was her little dog, "Justice." Her sweet spirit and loving smile will forever be remembered and greatly missed. Peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 Carm transitioned into eternal rest. She leaves behind her brother, Cameron Nathaniel Hawthorne, five aunts, one uncle, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Carmen, we love you, may you rest in peace.
